Private Brewery in Aying

Private Brewery in Aying

The Platzl Hotel and the Ayinger private brewery share a close, tradition-steeped history: both establishments have belonged to the Inselkammer family for generations. What began in Aying, an idyllic village south of Munich, in 1878 with Johann Liebhard's first brewery has developed over the decades into one of Bavaria's best-known family businesses. In 1953, Franz Inselkammer Senior took the bold step of acquiring the Platzl site in Munich, bringing Ayinger beer to the heart of the city. Since then, our guests have been enjoying Bavarian hospitality and award-winning Ayinger beer specialities under one roof.

Today, the Ayinger private brewery is one of the most award-winning breweries in Europe. Beer is brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 – with local hops, grain from the region, and the craftsmanship of seven generations of the family.

Excursion tip for beer lovers

We recommend our guests visit Aying: just 25 kilometers from Munich, you can experience firsthand how traditional brewing and state-of-the-art technology combine to produce the highest quality beer during a two-hour brewery tour. The highlight of the tour is the tasting of freshly tapped beer specialties, including a Zwicklbier sample straight from the storage tank.
