Shortly afterwards, in March, the "fifth season" is ushered in with the tapping of beer on the Nockherberg, and one strong beer festival follows another to get through Lent in good shape, in keeping with the old monastic tradition.
After a summer full of events and the Oktoberfest as the highlight, the Christmas season is just around the corner. Don't miss the cosy Christkindlmarkt on Weißenburger Platz, which locals love to visit.
6.Weekend Trip to the Munich Countryside
If you can't decide between a weekend in the city, in the mountains or at the lake, Munich is the perfect place to combine it all. In less than one hour you reach other wonderful places around Munich. For example, you can travel to Prien on Chiemsee or to the Austrian mountains at Kufstein without changing trains.
