Bavarian ‘Schafkopf’ in the Armbrustschützenzelt

Since 2018, we have offered this table in the Armbrustschützenzelt and it has been well received in the last years. From the 23rd to the 27th of September, there will again be tables reserved especially for 'Schafkopfer' in the 'Rehbock' box.  As of now, the Schafkopf table can be booked through www.armbrustschuetzenzelt.de/reservierung. As soon as a round is complete (four players), the game starts – you can play cards to your heart’s content from 10 am to 4 pm.

Anyone who can already play can join in. Many players come in groups of four and look forward to a proper game of Schafkopf (with its regular rounds) at the Oktoberfest. However, you can also sign up on your own or just drop in. In this case, we from the Schafkopf group will make sure that the individual players can join in. And if you wish, we are always available to help with tips and tricks or to clarify any questions about the rules.ragen zur Verfügung.

Because of the special atmosphere in the Armbrustschützenzelt, two themes are ideally connected with the Oktoberfest and Schafkopf: they both stand for tradition, customs, and the Bavarian way of life.

The tournament on the 3rd of October in the Armbrustschützenzelt will be certainly be a lot of fun! The prices are very reasonable and it promises to be an unforgettable experience for everyone! As with the regular tables, there are no special requirements.  Tickets for the tournament are available each year from the beginning of August on the Schafkopfschule website (https://www.schafkopfschule.de/startseite.html). Schafkopf is a very varied and interesting game that is fun at all levels. With increasing experience, more and more dimensions are revealed to the dedicated player, giving the game more facets and nuances.

Of course a good hand is advantageous, and in the short term, card luck and the state of the game (distribution of cards to the other three players) play a big role. The longer you look at the, the more relative luck becomes. Therefore, Schafkopf is not specifically a game of chance, but can also be considered a game of skill.Daher zählt Schafkopf ausdrücklich nicht zu den Glücksspielen, sondern gilt als Geschicklichkeitsspiel.

Over the past few years, Schafkopf has seen a significant influx of new players, especially young people. Recently there has been an additional boost from political circles and teachers' associations. And, of course, the offer of the archery tent has contributed to the fact that Schafkopf is once again very much in the public eye.
By the way, our training courses for beginners and advanced players are always fully booked. Another sign that you don't have to worry about Schafkopf! We are very happy about this, because spreading and promoting the game is the main purpose of our Schafkopf group.

Of course they do! A life as a Bavarian entirely without Schafkopf is really quite unimaginable. Schafkopf is as much a part of Bavaria as beer, dirndl & lederhosen and of course the Oktoberfest!
