Here in Munich, we are already enjoying the peak of the open-air season: A multitude of events, from the ‘Theatron Summer Festival’ through the ‘impark Festival’ to ‘Jakobidult’ continue to delight visitors and residents of the city in august. After all, late summer continues to be eventful. We will tell you which events you should not miss in September.

Romantic open-air cinema

A feeling of romance unfurls when the big screen lights up under the starry night sky and you can enjoy great films on a picnic blanket or from a deck chair. Two of the most beautiful open-air cinemas in Munich continue to show plenty of exciting films into September:  Kino, Mond & Sterne on the lake stage in Westpark and the Kino am Olympiasee. You can take a glance at the respective programs by following the links listed.

Summer theater at the Glyptothek

Anyone who likes theater should try out the Glyptothek courtyard on Königsplatz. Until September 16th, Gunnar Petersen’s theater group brings a substantial slice of theater history back to life daily at 8:00 pm: Shakespeare’s romance “The Tempest” is performed from Friday to Tuesday, while the public can look forward to the ancient drama “Oedipus the King” on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The exact program can be found here.

Cult(ure) night - Night revelers

Culture lovers in Munich also absolutely get their money’s worth on September. At the tenth Cult(ure) night on September 9th, artists of the scene present their latest installations and works at a variety of venues in the city center. In addition, beer gardens and bistros beckon with special delicacies, while shops and boutiques invite you to shop until midnight.

Streetlife Festival

The Streetlife Festival on September 10th and 11th also promises, as every year, to be a unique spectacle in late summer in Munich. The boulevards between Feldherrenhalle and Münchner Freiheit are car-free zones on these days and transform into an enormous festive procession. Look forward to performances, interactive games and great food!
