Isar: Short and sweet

Distance: 6.00 km

After a leisurely walk from Platzl hotel to Isartor, you can get started straight away and run over the Museum Island along the Isar downstream to the Prater Island. Turn off onto dry land and be impressed by the Maximilianeum and the Angel of Peace. Once you’re back on the Platzl side of the Isar you can run across the English Garden. After you’ve admired the Monopteros temple you simply continue as far as the Haus der Kunst. The last thing is to take a look at the Bayerische Staatskanzlei and then you are already back at your urban route’s starting point!

Angel of peace

Distance: 3.60 km

On the Angel of Peace route you circle the impressive Maximilianeum and wonderful Angel of Peace. With this you not only run along the wonderful old buildings in the neighboring district but also through the green Maximilian public parks along Munich’s Isar - a perfect mix!

For really tough guys

Distance: 21.00 km

The 21 kilometer long running route starts at Gasteig, Munich’s large cultural and educational center. From here you follow the Isar downstream past the Maximilianeum and Angel of Peace. You also cross the Oberföhring Isar weir to get into the English Garden. You will then see the Allianz Arena as the grand finale, perhaps even at dusk and in the FC Bayern colors! From here you can then simply return to the city center by taking the subway.

A lap through the garden

Distance: 12.00 km

Fancy a running lap through one of the largest urban gardens in the world? Then start at the Haus der Kunst and let yourself be swept along by the Eisbach, be impressed by Monopteros and enraptures by the original Munich beer garden culture under the Chinese Tower. We hope you have great fun on your very personal journey of discovery through the park!

Along the beautiful Isar

Distance: 8.40 km

After a short run through Munich’s hip Glockenbach district you can soon discover the green Flaucher upstream along the Isar. In the summer this place is packed with locals swimming and barbecuing here. Soon afterwards you will come across Munich’s Isarwerk 2, which produces roughly 15 million kilowatt hours of power for the regional capital with the help of the river’s flow. Here you can discover the Flaucher islands from above by crossing over the little wooden bridges and then run back again on the other side of the Isar downstream to your starting point.
