´The Long Night of Music´ and other cultural highlights

´The Long Night of Music´

Munich’s city centre will once again become a major concert stage for one night this spring. In this article you will find out the most important things about this music spectacle in Munich.

On May 9 between 8 pm and 3 am emerging solo artists and bands will present themselves to an enthusiastic audience. Quite different from a normal concert, the visitors move from venue to venue during the ´Long Night of Music´. Look forward to a major cultural event with 100 venues and a variety of music which is unrivalled. The price for the combination ticket is more than fair: you can attend any concert for only 15 euro.

The artists and venues

Which music can you expect? Whether classical, jazz, hip-hop or alternative rock, there is hardly a genre that is not served. Styles will be primarily represented by talented young artists who can be admired at about 100 venues.

Churches, cultural homes, bars, pubs or clubs – there is no predetermined route. You can assemble your individual plan or simply drift through the musical night. By using an extra combination ticket, you can take the special MVG shuttle busses and comfortably get from concert to concert.

Other cultural highlights in the spring

In addition to the ´Long Night of Music´, the Munich spring offers several other interesting cultural highlights:

  • Franz Marc and August Macke are among the most important expressionism artists. You can still visit the special exhibition at Lenbachhaus until May 3 to honour the two friends.
  • The Streetlife Festival embodies Munich’s largest street festival and will be held this year on May 16 and 17.
  • One of the open-air highlights in Munich’s calendar of events will take place from June 24 until July 19 with the Tollwood Summer Festival. It is a celebration of sustainability and cultural exchange.

Here at Platzl Hotel Munich we can´t wait for the cultural spring and hope to see you again soon in the heart of the Bavarian state capital.
