Summer Tollwood 2015
The Tollwood summer festival in the Olympic park is a unique spectacle every year packed with inter-cultural exchange and a love of life. What is never missing among all the fun though is the key message. The motto for 2015 is: “It’s all a question of attitude” and this slogan will be apparent to every visitor on the stages, in the marquees and on the market between June 24 and July 19.
This year's programme
The Tollwood summer festival’s musical programme reads just as prominently again: Tom Jones, Uriah Heep and Status Quo, Kollegah, Jennifer Rostock and Dieter Thomas Kuhn – to mention just a few of the biggest names. International veteran performers are participating just as much as aspiring newcomers and the style directions range from rock to jazz to hip hop. Adult visitors can also look forward to comedy, theatre and the dance bar, while children can enjoy the farm rally, crafts workshop and cooking courses. You can read the full programme here.
Market of Ideas
The market of ideas at Summer Tollwood definitely has to be highlighted. Here you can not only admire and buy arts and crafts from all over the world but indulge in international culinary specialities too. The vegetarian and vegan treats on offer are more extensive this year than ever before. Particularly in the “Delhi Haat”, the festival’s Indian centre where you can find a large selection of meat-free dishes, which are of course wonderfully seasoned with exotic spices.
Sustainability with a capital S
Summer Tollwood would not be Summer Tollwood if it didn’t have the key commitment of sustainably standing up for people and the environment. The organisers committed themselves to this ecological responsibility when the festival was founded in 1988 and have been standing by it ever since. In concrete terms, this is expressed in the use of green energy, fair trade, processing regional food and stricter waste separation. Summer Tollwood has also been organically certified since 2003.
The fact that sustainable values are also embodied alongside a love of life and cultural enjoyment makes the festival so pleasant and therefore a Must in Munich’s summer season. The Platzl team hopes you have great fun!
