Our employee-tip for your day trip

Munich itself has so much to offer for tourists; probably enough to last them for a whole year. Many places of interest are extensively covered by the relevant tourist guides leaving little room for insider tips. However, we would like to introduce you to one of these rare insider tips, even if it is outside the city center. This tour shows you the beauty of Upper Bavaria in all its facets!

The starting point is marked by the Munich Central Station, which can be reached within 10 minutes of the Platzl Hotel by taking any S-Bahn line on the original route. From there, take the Bayerische Oberland Bahn into Greater Munich. After 50 minutes, you will arrive at Schliersee, located in the heart of the Bavarian Alps. Enjoy the shimmering blue water and the picturesque forests of the valley.

From Schliersee, we continue on with walking stick in hand and hiking boots on our feet. After a two-hour hike over rolling green hills and through streams, you will reach Neureuther Alm, where a hearty meal is waiting for you. Once satisfied, you will step further – the final destination is now near: the Tegernsee.

The second lake of your tour will fascinate as much as the first one as Tegernsee is certainly one of the most beautiful locations of Bavaria. After a dinner with the gentle rippling of the water in the background, take the Bayerische Oberland Bahn again back to Munich in comfort.

You will not soon forget this relaxing as well as exciting day – let yourself be enchanted by the nature of the Bavarian countryside!
