Interview with Petra Reit – Deputy Housekeeper at the Platzl Hotel Munich


The staff at our traditional hotel is our most important representative, because only they can make your stay absolutely perfect. What would the Platzl Hotel be without the friendly doorman, the attentive waitress, the housekeeping or the charming receptionist? Since it is very important to us that you get to know our staff better, today we would like to introduce in more detail Petra Reit, our Deputy Housekeeper.

How long have you worked for the Platzl Hotel Munich?
PR: I have been working at the hotel for 5 ½ years.

In which area of the hotel do you work?
PR: I work in housekeeping.

What inspires you to work in the hospitality industry?
PR: Most of all, I am inspired by how much easier it is to travel abroad than in other professions.

What part of your work do you most enjoy?
PR: Both the bigger picture and the details.

Do you have a favourite spot in the hotel?
PR: If I had to choose a place, it would be the Moorish Kiosk.

What do you like most about your colleagues?
PR: Reliability, humour and above all, the good mood at work.

Why did you choose the Platzl Hotel Munich?
PR: It is great working in a family-run business. For me it was very important to avoid hotel chains. In addition, the location in the heart of Munich is unique.

What insider tips for Munich can you recommend to your guests?
PR: The Hofkirche, the English Garden and the Lenbachhaus are very close to my heart. So I would not hesitate to recommend these sights to our guests.

How will you spend spring in Munich?
PR: I spend every spare moment in the sun.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
PR: I love to be outside in the fresh air. Walking and gardening are my favorite pastimes. Of course, I spend my free time with my family and friends, too.

What is your personal highlight of spring in Munich?
PR: My absolute highlight in the spring is the almond tree blossom in the Winzererstraße. This is truly unique and highly recommended!
