Event highlights from March to May 2014

The gentle winter in the city of Munich, has given us much joy, so far, with its many hours of sunshine and mild temperatures. The idea of lengthening days and of the first birds chirping increases our anticipation of the arrival of spring in the city. The sunny days awaken our need for idyllic walks through the English Garden and memorable shopping tours along the Kaufingerstrasse. In addition, the city of Munich once again offers its spring visitors numerous event highlights.

Backstreet Boys Konzert (03.03.2014, Olympic Hall)

Experience an unforgettable evening of superlatives in the Munich Olympiahalle and be there when the five original guys in the Backstreet Boys appear on stage again for the first time in nearly 10 years. Crime Festival 2014 (08.03. to 31.03.2014, various venues)

The crime festival, which is one of the largest international festivals in crime fiction, restarts on 08.03.2014 in Munich. In this extraordinary event, numerous popular crime writers will present their latest novels in the oddest places in and around Munich, e.g. in the Pathological Institute, at BMW World or in the Gasteig. St. Patricks Day (16.03.2014, Münchner Freiheit)

The Irish national holiday, “St.Patrick’s Day “, will be celebrated in Munich too, starting at 12 ‘o’ clock with a grand parade from the Münchner Freiheit to Odeonsplatz. Then beginning at 12:45, at the Odeonsplatz, there is the great after parade party with Irish music and dance performances on two stages. For more information, please click here.

Starkbierfest am Nockerberg (21.03. bis 06.04.2014)

Spring Festival (25.04. bis 11.05.2014, Theresienwiese)

Maidult (26.04. bis 04.05.2014, Mariahilfplatz)

In the traditional “Maidult” at Mariahilfplatz – around 300 market traders, antique dealers and showmen invite you to stroll, have fun and celebrate. Every Tuesday the family-friendly fun fair in the Au district offers a Children’s Day with discounted fares. For more information, please click here.

As a further idea for an excursion we encourage you to visit the fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein in Füssen, which is easily reached from Munich in 1.5 hours by car.
