“Munich is not only football – we have ice hockey too” – the EHC München e.V.

The probably most famous Bavarian football team is celebrated and worshipped by Munich locals and its fans. The popular Munich football club plays a big role in the state capital and it is also an important part of Munich history. Munich however also certainly has much more to offer as far as sports highlights. In addition to various sports highlights of the year, such as this year’s “Munich X-Games,” there are also other long-standing and successful sports clubs, such as the Munich ice hockey club, for example.

Ice hockey has been amongst the most important type of team sports in Germany for years. In Munich, the Bavarian state capital, the EHC has been gaining more and more spectators for its ice hockey games since it was founded in 1998. From as early as 3 years, children can learn how to ice skate as well as how to use ice hockey sticks and the puck. The club places a lot of value on advancing upcoming talents and strongly supports all of its teams for children. The EHC’s professional team has also been successful for years on the ice. The first EHC men’s team became part of the EHC MünchenSpielbetriebs GmbH in 2004. In the 2009/2010 season, the team won both the DEB cup as well as the 2nd national league championships and thus qualified for admittance into the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), the top division in Germany.

Since May 1st2013, Red Bull has been the sole partner of the ice hockey club and the name of theSpielbetriebs GmbHcompanywas changed into EHC Red Bull München GmbH. The team finished its home games at the Olympia ice stadium, which offers more than 6,000 spectators the opportunity to follow exciting ice hockey games. Numerous fan clubs support EHC Red Bull München and ensure the atmosphere in the stadium is unforgettable.

You can get to the EHC Olympia ice stadium games easily from Marienplatz by taking the U3 subway line in the direction of Olympiazentrum. Currently, the motivated ice hockey team is ranked at 6th place from the top.
