Christmas is in the air! – With only a couple of days to go until the festivity Munich glistens with the spirit of Christmas. Romantic Christmas Markets, dazzling decoration, mulled wine and all this in the lovely scenery of Munich’s historic old town. If you are not in a Christmas mood yet – Munich will put you into it!

When Christmas is over Munich gets ready for the New Year with numerous splendid events. One highlight event follows the other and great artists visit the city in a sheer never ending stream. To name a few:

Audi FIS Ski World Cup and Wintersportfestival (30.12.2011 until 01.01.2012, Olympiapark)

Munich offers a truly unique sport event with the FIS Ski World Cup being held in the middle of the city! Experience the thrill of an international alpine race. You can watch the best skiers of the world fighting for the gold medal. During the world cup the “Munich Wintersportfestival” will be held, starting on 30.12.2011. Here you can try out over 15 winter sports such as biathlon, ice hockey and ski jumping. Next to sporty highlights the festival also offers great culinary delights.

Holiday on Ice – Festival (02.02. until 12.02.2012), Olympiahalle

Experience the world famous show Holiday on Ice in the “Münchner Olympiahalle.” More than 320 million people have seen this fantastic show so far. Let the show with this year’s motto “Festival” enchant you too! With colorful scenes framed by the most beautiful songs of Phil Collins and modern state of the art technique the show guarantees pure joy and great emotions. Let yourself be swept away to a Venetian Mask Ball into the world of ghosts and vampires or to southern Spain with the famous Bolero.

André Rieu (15.02.2012, Olympiahalle)

First class music with an excellent charm – André Rieu is an absolute must for all who love Viennese Waltz. There is no other artist who represents Johann Strauss in a more charming way. His orchestra, dressed in colorful historic costumes is always a feast for the eyes. Next to Johann Strauss Rieu plays many other classic hits and also interprets pop songs with his classic orchestra. With more than 30 Million records sold, Rieu is one of the most successful classic artists of his time.

Bryan Adams (30.03.2012, Olympiahalle)

Georgia O’Keeff (03.02. until 13.05.2012, Hypo Kulturhalle)

From the beginning of February until mid May arts lovers can enjoy the works of the US artist Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) at “Hypo Kulturhalle.”

The remarkable exhibition is the first extensive retrospective of O’Keeffe in Germany. The thorough selection of paintings represents the different work stages of the artist. Let you get inspired and embark on a cruise through important phases of arts history.
